FITS ALL GAS AND DIESEL E40D & 4R100 TRANSMISSIONS FROM 1996-2003

SEE IMPORTANT IDENTIFICATION NOTES BELOW!!!

This Accumulator Body (commonly called the "John Wood Valve Body) is built by John Wood of John Wood Automotive, one of the premier E40D/4R100 builders in the country. It is configured to offer improvements in shift quality without being harsh and without causing the "reverse delay" found in some shift kit configurations. This valve body also works GREAT with most aftermarket transmission tuning due to not being overly aggressive in the shift firmness.

New JWVBs are built from your returned cores, which are disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and machined flat before being upgraded with:
• John Wood Exclusive Custom Capacity Valves *
• John Wood Exclusive Custom Line Modulator Valve *
• John Wood Spec'd Accumulator Spring Sets
* John Wood Capacity Valves and Line Modulator Valves are true, "in-house", custom machined parts.

Installation of this valve body will result in:
• Quicker, more Positive Shifts
• Elimination of "Shift Flare"
• Reduced Temperatures
• Reduced Clutch Slippage
• Reduced Clutch Wear

IMPORTANT IDENTIFICATION NOTES: Look closely at the last image above for reference.
For 96-98 vehicles , if the blue highlighted pad on your current accumulator body has a machined slot, you need the 90-95 E40D version of the JWVB. This may be the case if your vehicle has ever had its transmission replaced with an entirely different unit. The accumulator body must be matched to the rest of the transmission components, DO NOT install a different accumulator body if the area highlighted in blue doesn't match (slot, or no slot)!

For ALL 96-03 vehicles , if the blue highlighted area on your current accumulator body DOES NOT have a machined slot, this IS the correct replacement for your vehicle. That said, if the blue highlighted pad has 2 DRILLED HOLES, your transmission has a shift kit that uses a separator plate above the accumulator body that will need to be removed before installing the JWVB. Refer to the installation instructions with the JWVB for more information.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTES: Installation of this valve body will require the use of an IN/LB torque wrench. If you don't have access to the correct tool, we recommend having a qualified mechanic perform the installation. Additionally, if your transmission has a lot of miles or years since the last rebuild, the Accumulator Body MAY stick to the Gasket, causing it to tear during disassembly. Caution must be taken to try to prevent this, but it is not always possible. If the gasket tears, the entire VB assembly must be dropped to replace it, and it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that the separator plate be dropped and the gasket between the separator plate and the transmission case also be replaced in this instance (which involves releasing the check balls). If you feel that this type of situation would be beyond your capability, we recommend having a qualified mechanic perform the installation.

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND installation of a new transmission filter during the installation of the valve body. We can supply you with a quality filter if you don't want to supply your own. Just select the option to "Add 4R100 / E40D Filter" when you are adding the valve body to your cart.

We have also included an option for us to supply you with a pre-paid (at a discounted rate) UPS or FedEx return label for your valve body core. This will allow you to simply seal your clean valve body core and core return form back up in the same box we sent you, cover the old label with the new one and give it to any UPS or FedEx driver or drop-off without having to hassle with shipping details.

A $150 refundable core charge will be automatically added to the purchase of this product.

Cores MUST be returned within 30 days of product delivery (as verified by UPS or FedEx tracking information) to receive the full core refund. Cores received after 30 days will receive a pro-rated refund. Please remember that the valve body you are ordering was once a core that someone else was kind enough to return...be considerate of the next customer and return your core as quickly as you can! We NEED your core as much as you NEED your money back!

Awesome product! I was experiencing slippage and either hard shifts or no shifts from 3rd to 4th. Now under moderate acceleration my shifts are smooth and positive. The only issue I have sometimes going form 2nd to 3rd under light acceleration, sometimes I get some bucking because it can't decide which gear it should be in. I think this means I need to re-image my chip, but not sure exactly how to do that. Any advice would be greatly helpful. Thanks for an awesome product, it's living up to all the hype! JL

I did this mod with a bypass kit, filter, Derale Deep Pan and a Mishimoto 37 row cooler. My trans temps are at a record low. Towing 14K uphill they hit 150 to 160. The John Woods valve Body is by far the best upgrade i have done to my truck. Cleaned up lagging shifts and performs awesome. I added this with 190K on my trans and it feels like its brand new. Dont think about it, do it. Thanks Strickly Diesel

This has been the best upgrade to my truck yet. I have a 1999 F350 Crew cab w/122k miles on it. I was experiencing shifting that hit a lot harder than I liked using an older Edge chip and now a new Hydra tuner. I feared it was causing damage to my trans, it wasn't neck breaking, but enough to rattle things around. NOW...holy moly the shifting is night and day different, and sooo much smoother. I run a Hydra tuner and haven't used the tunes specific for a valve body, just because it's so awesome. When running on stock tune, I can barely feel it shift some times. Money well spent and I highly recommend it. Install wasn't bad, make sure you have the right torque wrench. Two thumbs up, 5 stars, AAA. You will not be disappointed.

I have installed a John Woods Valve Body on each of my 02 F250 crew cabs. Fixed the slow shifts that made them both feel like the transmissions were slipping between shifts.

Wow shifts went from loosely goosey to tight as a nun. Very quick and precise shifts not rough at all! Feels like a new vehichle. Also got rid of the shudder I had with light throttle and got rid of the delay when shifting Into drive and reverse. My excursion now shifts better than my superduty. Looks like another one of these are in my future. Super easy install if you're already dropping the pan.

Looked at both Valve Body companies and decided to go with the John Wood and the package Strictly Diesel put together. Great group to deal with and fast shipment. Easy for a guy to do and I have never had the bottom off a tranny. Best shifting 7.3 in Florida! Very happy with the deal and get the shipping label to return. It was easy to return the core and for $10.00 is a very fair price.
