As the 7.3L trucks get older, oil pan leaks get more and more common. One of the most frequent sources of oil pan leaks is from the factory dipstick adapter in the side of the oil pan. We've seen a number of interesting repairs on the stock dipstick adapter, most involving some sort of sealant like silicone...and some even involving epoxy type products like JBWeld. We've also seen the dipstick adapter nut over-tightened to the point of distorting the adapter inside the pan (in such a way that it would never seal again, even with a new o-ring).

Whether you've got an oil leak now, or you're building a new engine and don't want to deal with one in the future, this Dipstick Adapter Repair kit is the once and for all solution! This kit completely eliminates the stock dipstick adapter, replacing it with a new machined aluminum adapter that features a double o-ring seal on the OUTSIDE of the oil pan. This kit can be installed with the oil pan still on the engine, and the engine still in the truck. Best of all, if the o-rings in this kit should ever leak, this adapter can be quickly and easily removed and reinstalled with new o-rings...all from outside the oil pan!

Note: This product may require modification to fit engines using HYPERMAX connecting rods or using an AFTERMARKET Engine Girdle across the main caps. It has been used with both products, but clearances should be closely checked and installation may require additional steps.

T444E CUSTOMERS : This repair adapter has been used by a number of T444E owners with the same success as we have had on the Ford Powerstroke applications. To date, the only issue we have heard of was a school bus with a starter that was so large it interfered with the adapter, and that customer simply installed a smaller starter to solve the problem. To the best of our knowledge, this adapter should fit all T444E applications...but to be clear, we are not a Heavy Duty shop and we don't work on that engine. Q : Do I have to remove the engine and/or the oil pan to install this part?
A : No, this Dipstick Adapter installs from the OUTSIDE of the oil pan and does NOT require removal of the engine or the oil pan for installation or service.

Q : How do I get the factory part out of the oil pan when installing this Dipstick Adapter Repair Kit?
A : You don't. The interior portion of the factory dipstick adapter stays in the oil pan. During the installation, after removing the original o-ring (so it doesn't get stuck in the oil pickup and reduce oil flow), this part is dropped into the lowest part of the oil pan sump, where it will remain until such time as the engine and oil pan are removed.

Q : Can the factory part that is left in the oil pan cause any engine damage?
A : No. The factory dipstick adapter will sink to the bottom of the pan and have nowhere to go. It is too large to enter the oil pickup tube and there is nothing else in the bottom of the oil pan for it to interfere with. The only possibility for any issues with regard to the part in the bottom of the oil pan would be in the case of the engine being operated upside down (a situation that more than likely means that you've got bigger problems than whether the engine continues to run or not).

Q : How does the Dipstick Adapter Repair Kit work?
A : This Dipstick Adapter has a rear support brace that goes in through the opening of the oil pan and is swiveled into place during the installation. The 2 screws visible in the photograph above are used to retain that support brace and pull it tight against the interior wall of the oil pan, which compresses the 2 o-rings against the outside wall of the oil pan and creates the seal.

Q : Is there any drilling or modification to the oil pan required?
A : No, there is absolutely no modification to the factory oil pan required to install this Dipstick Adapter.

Q : Does this product include installation instructions?
A : Yes. If you've ever purchased or installed any of the other "Strictly Diesel" or "Driven Diesel" products, you've already seen the type of detailed instructions that we've become known for. This product is no different. great product, i thought it was pretty simple to install, pulled the starter and cleaned the oil pan off, the adapter itself only took about ten min to install, hr tops for everything. been installed for a while now and hasn't leaked a drop of oil.

Recently purchased this product being very skeptical about whether or not I would have to end up pulling the engine to fix my oil leak. To my surprise, this product is of very high quality and precision craftsmanship. Instructions are easy to follow and are generously detailed. I will recommend this product to anyone with the Legendary 7.3. Only disappointment was I really would have loved a t-shirt to represent STRICTLY but only got bumper stickers. :(

First off, it gets the job done and I have no issues with the part. But I'm a pipe fitter who has worked in machine shops and operated cnc Mills and lathes...and this part is overpriced. They could sell it for $100 and still make a profit. He'll I can order a 2" machined weldneck 304SS schedule 80 flange for 22 dollars and it has 10x the material. But they got us cornered and are taking advantage our misfortune. We're driving trucks that haven't been made since 2003...most of us aren't just rolling in the dough. P.s. asked for my shirt size and didn't even get one! Lol send some KY next time I guess.

OMG, sorry to say this to some of you complaining about the cost of this product (quit whining. My dealer wanted $2257.00 before taxes to fix my oil dip stick leak. For 13% of that cost, some great machine work and great directions it was fixed in no time. I jumped in my truck and took a 1000 mile road trip without worry. Don't try other fixes, do it right until you need to drop your engine. I still would rather use this dip stick kit when I drop my engine. Awesome product...THANKS MUCHO from Texas.

I installed mine with the engine out of the truck on a new oil pan. Install went great. This buy will save you in the long run from several different problems. Don't be afraid. Learn how to wrench on your own vehicle.

After 225000 miles the O ring finally gave up the ghost. after reading all kinds of post's trying to get a new O ring into the stock location, and others trying to cover the entire outer surface with silicone or other material and hoping for the best, I did not hesitate in ordering this product. Worked like a champ! the price is well worth the time saved and piece of mind if service is ever needed on the adapter. Nice work improving on a poor factory design.

After installing a new o-ring on the original adapter a few years ago only to heave it start leaking less than 100 miles later, I finally got tired of leaving oil spots everywhere I went and ordered this. A little pricey, but worth every penny! Easily installed, and so far I'm not leaking a drop of oil. Great product!

Response:The instructions for this product are not posted online, but if you are capable and comfortable removing the starter from the truck, you should be more than capable of finishing the installation of this product. It is very simple to install.
